Versailles - 2020
Gábor Boldoczki's new album is a musical voyage of discovery to Versailles, to the court of the Sun King Louis XIV. The multi-award-winning trumpeter has recorded flute and oboe concerti by French Baroque composers Jean-Marie Leclair (1697-1764), Michel Blavet (1700-1768), Jacques-Christophe Naudot (1690-1762) and Bonaventure Gilles (c. 1678-?) in arrangements for valve trumpet as well as flugelhorn.

Gábor Boldoczki:
“Every Czech citizen is a musician,” So runs a Czech proverb. And in the context of my guest appearances there I have indeed been able to sense people’s familiarity and affinity with their culture. This inspired me to immerse myself in the country’s musical history.

Tromba Veneziana - 2013
„Tromba Veneziana” is dedicated to the works of Antonio Vivaldi.

Vivaldi wrote some 500 concertos for the entire range of instruments – but for the trumpet only one double-concerto. For his CD programme “Tromba Veneziana” trumpeter Gábor Boldoczki has recorded arrangements of concerts and arias by Vivaldi, who was also a productive opera composer. And with his nimble articulation, his flexibility and variable tone Boldoczki slips so adroitly and with such feeling into all the different roles that the listener almost forgets the solo instruments that the pieces were originally written for.

Bach - 2010
Everyone can remember the brilliant sound of the trumpet in several Bach pieces, although there is no music for solo trumpet by him. It matters not, might have thought Boldoczki and he set out to transcribe a couple of cembalo concertos and chorals for his instrument. The result is a very well done recording, which may open a new field for the trumpet as a solo instrument. Boldoczki never pushes himself forwards. In fact, he has no need to. The conversation between the trumpet and the solo violin, played by Kristóf Baráti, is extremely beautiful.
An hour of baroque music to enjoy.

Mozart and Johann Nepomuk Hummel, each in his own transcription.
